An alternative take on traditional spiced rum, Sweet-dram blends quality Caribbean rums from Guyana, Jamaica and Barbados and infuses them with grains of paradise, chamomile, lime leaf, fennel and cardamom as well as lapsang souchong - which imparts the smokiness to the mix and organic figs.
The latter are warm-smoked at the distillery. Their heavy phenolic content gives the false impression of an unusual, lightly-peated single malt. Unlike most other spiced rums, this has no added sugar.
Try it with ginger beer and fruit juice (e.g. apple, rhubarb). Shake vigorously with fresh lime juice, simple syrup and ice for a complex, contemporary daiquiri.
Elegant but forward smokiness, backed up by grilled tropical fruit, tobacco and sweet vanilla.
