High up in Miyata village on Kuyshu Island is the Shinshu distillery, better known as 'Mars'. Founded by a shochu producer with close to 150 years experience, Mars have been producing exemplary blended and single malt whiskies since 1985.
The "Cosmo" (a reference to a nearby mountain) is an intriguing blended malt, combining whisky produced at the distillery with select scotch whiskies. Expect a rich but balanced profile with flavours of caramel, cinnamon, pepper and tobacco.
