The 2002 vintage Distillers Edition of Lagavulin single malt packs a peaty punchy indeed! The Islay whisky was bottled in 2018, after a finishing period in Pedro Ximénez casks. The savoury peat notes go incredibly well with the intense sweetness that the sherry casks impart, making for a complex, highly enjoyable dram.
Nose:Sherried malt, sea salt, cherry and almond.
Palate:Roasted barley, seaweed, damp oak, more nutty notes and dark chocolate.
Finish:Maritime peat and a little bit of menthol.
