‘Discovery’ is the second range to launch as part of the updated G&M portfolio, with the packaging taking a major leap forward. Designed to help whisky drinkers begin an exploratory journey, the whiskies are grouped and colour-coded under three flavour profiles - ‘Smoky', ‘Sherry’ and ‘Bourbon’. The first expressions to be released include Balblair, Tormore, Miltonduff and Caol Ila, all matured in Gordon & MacPhail’s own hand-selected casks.
Citrus and tropical fruit notes are typical from maturation in bourbon barrels. Add Caol Ila's peaty, cured meat notes and you get one genuinely fruity/smokey lipsmacking dram.
Notes from the bottlers... Aroma: Sweet and savoury: dry-cured meats glazed with luscious apricot jam combines with rich vanilla notes. Flashes of softly swirling peat smoke complement the delicious sweetness. Taste: Bursting with juicy tropical fruit - pineapple, kiwi, and banana - brushed softly with icing sugar. Light touches of malt and vibrant lemon peel balance the sweetness. Finish: Long and luxurious with hints of sweet marshmallow toasting over gently smouldering bonfire embers. 43% Alc./Vol.
