Bere Barley is a six-row heritage variety with significantly lower yields than other varieties, and was long-forgotten until Bruichladdich got its mitts on it! This 2010 vintage was made using barley grown on Weyland & Watersfield, Richmond Villa, Quoyberstane and Northfield Farms, harvested in 2009.
Nose: Honeyed porridge, lemon drizzle cake and peach pastry, with tinned pear and white flowers. A touch of coconut cream and caramel.
Palate: Barley sugar and oily malt, with loads more peach, caramel chocolate and toffee apple, with a touch of vanilla oak.
Finish: Pear and apple crumble, with lingering apricot.
